Description

The hazelnut was cultivated in Pontos, since ancient times, and was called "Pontikon karuon" meaning "walnut of Pontus". After being harvested and broken into mills, the hazelnuts were divided into three categories: round (tombul), pointed (sibri) and oily (yagli). A handful of hazelnuts, every two days, help in the reception of cardiovascular diseases and in the metabolism. They are beneficial for the health and strengthening of the bones, they help in the metabolism of proteins and carbohydrates. Hazelnuts are rich in thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B3), vitamin B6 and folic acid. Therefore, they are beneficial for the proper functioning of the nervous system. They relieve stress and depression and contribute to the good health of the skin and the digestive system. They are rich in antioxidants and research has shown that they help reduce "bad" cholesterol. It is considered a good source of monounsaturated fats and contains omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids.
