They were cultivated for the first time around 1867 in Aegina and then spread to other areas of Greece such as Megara, Salamina, Evia and Fthiotida. In 1996-97, with an announcement in the government newspaper, they are registered as a PDO product (protected designation of origin).
They stand out both for their taste, their special green color but also for their rose hull. A portion of peanuts contains several nutrients, vitamin B6, thiamine, copper, magnesium and phosphorus.
